ROCK CLIMBING SAFARI
LAKE GARDA & ARCO CLIMBING SAFARI
SARCA VALLEY - TRENTINO
UP TO 6 DAYS
SPRING - FALL
TRIP OVERVIEW
Ever wondered why local climbers—and enthusiasts from all over the world—flock to this magical area during the shoulder seasons and even in winter? Because it’s simply one of the best climbing playgrounds on Earth.
Picture perfect rock walls, mostly sun-exposed, rising from the valley carved by the Sarca River as it flows toward Lake Garda. Grey slabby faces split by elegant cracks, golden overhangs with generous holds, sculpted limestone tufas… and an endless number of multi-pitch routes—so many that you’d need two lifetimes to climb them all. Add to this the global mecca of sport climbing, and you begin to understand the irresistible pull of this place.
Approaches lead you through olive groves, in a magical Mediterranean atmosphere where alpine-style climbing meets a mild southern climate. And the end-of-day ritual is just as unforgettable: savoring a superb gelato in the medieval streets of Arco di Trento, browsing its many climbing and artisan shops, enjoying an aperitivo in the piazza of Riva del Garda, or relaxing by the lake while watching kitesurfers dance across the water.
In this program, we offer several days of climbing in the Sarca Valley: an introductory session in one of Arco’s crags, a multi-pitch with stunning views over Lake Garda to build confidence, a via ferrata day to give your feet a break from tight climbing shoes, and another beautiful multi-pitch high above the Sarca River. If you have time off in the shoulder seasons and you’re a climber looking for perfect rock, great weather, and unforgettable days out—come climb with us.
As with all our programs, the entire itinerary is fully customizable. We can tailor the choice of routes to your climbing level and to the number of days you have available.

Arrive and check in in your hotel in Riva del Garda, a charming located at the northern tip of Lake Garda, surrounded by dramatic peaks! The Mediterranean atmosphere, the scent of lemons, and the beautiful scenery of the lakeside town nestled between the mountains…
Riva del Garda also has a rich history, reflected in its medieval architecture and historical sites, such as Torre Apponale, a tall bell tower, and the Rocca di Riva, a medieval fortress overlooking the lake.
You might want to have a stroll in the town’s cobblestone streets, lively piazzas, and cozy cafés and you can savor a great local wine by the lake and enjoy a dinner at a restaurant in the town center.

Your first day kicks off with single-pitch sport climbing — a perfect warm-up and a chance to build rapport with your guide. It’s the ideal setting to receive personalized technique tips and for your guide to assess your level, helping plan the days ahead for maximum enjoyment and progression. One excellent mid-season crag is Juval, set in a scenic valley and offering beautiful gneiss climbs across all grades. After breakfast, you'll transfer to Naturno, and following your climbing session, you’ll have the chance to visit the nearby Messner Mountain Museum — an inspiring space dedicated to mountain culture, exploration, and the human relationship with the vertical world. Of course, there are many other great options for the day, from limestone faces to the iconic porphyry walls surrounding Bolzano. After the climb, return to your hotel and enjoy dinner at one of Bolzano’s many charming restaurants — we’ll be happy to recommend our favorites!
Accommodation: Hotel in Riva del Garda or Arco di Trento
-
On day two, you’ll head up to the panoramic walls of Glanig (San Genesio), where a range of recently equipped multi-pitch routes awaits: from well-bolted sport lines to mixed routes with a traditional feel. With options for various skill levels, it’s the perfect setting for a full climbing adventure high above the valley. At the top, a traditional South Tyrolean maso (mountain farmhouse) will be waiting to welcome you with a well-deserved lunch made from local farm products and their own meat, all served with unbeatable views over the Dolomites and the city below.

Today might be the perfect opportunity to give your feet and toes a well-earned break after days in tight climbing shoes. Instead of cranking on holds, enjoy a lighter day on a via ferrata. We can choose an easier, more hiking-style route that offers big panoramas, or go for a more technical and vertical line if you’re still looking for excitement and not feeling tired. A great chance to have fun on the vertical without overloading your fingers and feet in climbing shoes.
Accommodation: Hotel in Riva del Garda or Arco di Trento
-
For day three, we suggest heading south to the Sarca Valley for a stunning multi-pitch climb above Lake Toblino or in the legendary Arco di Trento area, a true paradise for sport climbers and multi-pitch enthusiasts alike. Here, both early pioneers and modern alpinists have left their mark, opening classic lines that offer a full Dolomite-style experience just minutes from the shores of Lake Garda. And after a rewarding day on the wall, there’s always time for a well-earned gelato or a cold beer in Arco’s charming old town, surrounded by climbing shops that’ll make your eyes sparkle.
