Bolzano, Appiano and the little villages of the Wine Road… Ready to open the door of the Dolomites?
Looking for the perfect place to start your Dolomites Safari adventure? Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol, is one of the easiest places to reach, especially if you are travelling by train or arriving by airplane. It offers a combination of easy access, comfort, culture and the lively atmosphere of a historic city in the Alps.
If, however, you are looking for a quieter village atmosphere surrounded by vineyards, I recommend Eppan (Appiano) instead. Just a 15 minute private transfer from Bolzano, Eppan is among vineyards and hills, offering a more peaceful setting and a slightly cooler atmosphere in summer! With climate change it’s not bad!
It is also a wonderful base if you enjoy cycling, walking and exploring the woods. The nearby Monticolo Lakes are perfect for an easy walk, a swim or simply a relaxing afternoon surrounded by nature.
How to Reach Bolzano
Getting to Bolzano is simple and convenient. The city is well connected to major international airports:
Venice (2.5 hours by car, ~3 hours by train)
Milan (3 hours by car, ~3.5–4 hours by train)
Munich (4 hours by car, ~3.5–4 hours by train)
From any of these airports, you can easily reach Bolzano by train, long-distance bus, or private transfer.
The Bolzano train station is located in the heart of the city, within walking distance of most hotels and accommodations.
Below you’ll find the easiest and most reliable ways to reach Bolzano from each airport. From Bolzano, you can reach your starting point with a private transfer that we can organise or by a short trip by bus… whether it is in Nova Levante/Carezza, along the South Tyrolean Wine Road around Appiano, or in one of the nearby villages!
