ROCK CLIMBING SAFARI

Bolzano Rock Climbing Basecamp

AROUND BOLZANO

UP TO 5+ DAYS

SPRING - FALL

A multi-day hotel-based rock climbing adventure from Bolzano with your mountain guide, exploring sunny winter cliffs across South Tyrol, from the walls of Sarntal to the gneiss of Vinschgau, limestone routes in the Adige valley, the red porphyry above Bolzano and the Sarca Valley and Arco di Trento climbing paradise!

The most flexible climbing program for the cooler seasons (spring and especially autumn) when the mid and low elevations offer a perfect playground with a wide variety of rock types. From the solid gneiss of Val Venosta, to the red porphyry of Val Sarentino and the Bolzano area, all the way to the famous limestone of the Sarca Valley and Val d’Adige.

This program invites you to discover the magic of climbing while looking at the Dolomites from a distance, without missing out on quality movement and diverse styles on the lower walls: from clean gneiss cracks, to technical porphyry slabs, to the iconic limestone verticality of Arco.

If you want to experience climbing with maximum flexibility, starting from Bolzano and choosing day by day between improving your technique or training at the crag, climbing a multi-pitch route with your guide, or trying a via ferrata to give your fingertips a break…this is the program for you!

Climbing at lower elevations around Bolzano also gives you the chance to enjoy unique local experiences: the autumn local tradition of Törggelen (a festive culinary ritual featuring new wine, roasted chestnuts, and hearty farm dishes), wine tastings in renowned local wineries, and cultural events such as the December Krampus parades, as well as the famous Christmas markets. Add to this the Mediterranean feel of the Sarca Valley, dotted with olive trees and offering a taste of the Lake Garda “dolce vita,” where a refreshing swim or a gelato in the piazza is always within reach.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Learn or refine your technique with your mountain guide across a wide range of rock styles.

  • Climb on porphyry, gneiss, and limestone—each day brings a new feeling, new movement, and real technical progression.

  • Explore the magical Sarca Valley, home to one of the world’s most iconic climbing destinations: Arco di Trento.

  • Immerse yourself in local traditions: crunch into an apple picked straight from the tree, taste fine local wines, enjoy a traditional Törggelen at a mountain farm, or savor a gelato while wandering the medieval streets of Arco.

  • Enjoy maximum flexibility, adapting the program day by day according to your fitness level and your wishes.

DAY BY DAY

  • Bolzano is a charming medieval town, where Italian and German cultures blend harmoniously. Surrounded by the breathtaking mountains of Sciliar, Rosengarten and Latemar, it feels more like being in a small mountain village than in the capital of South Tyrol. Strolling through its squares and picturesque streets, you'll feel an atmosphere that is both cosmopolitan and authentically local. With its famous Christmas markets, museums like the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology featuring Ötzi, refined cuisine and prestigious wineries, Bolzano is a must-visit destination for those seeking beauty, history, and nature all in one place!

Your program in the Dolomites starts here! During the day, you can enjoy the “bella vita” of this south tyrolean town, and before dinner, you'll meet the mountain guide for an organizational briefing and gear double check before embarking on the multi-day tour! Get ready for fun!!!

    Accommodation: Hotel in Bolzano

  • Your first day kicks off with single-pitch sport climbing — a perfect warm-up and a chance to build rapport with your guide. It’s the ideal setting to receive personalized technique tips and for your guide to assess your level, helping plan the days ahead for maximum enjoyment and progression. One excellent mid-season crag is Juval, set in a scenic valley and offering beautiful gneiss climbs across all grades. After breakfast, you'll transfer to Naturno, and following your climbing session, you’ll have the chance to visit the nearby Messner Mountain Museum — an inspiring space dedicated to mountain culture, exploration, and the human relationship with the vertical world. Of course, there are many other great options for the day, from limestone faces to the iconic porphyry walls surrounding Bolzano. After the climb, return to your hotel and enjoy dinner at one of Bolzano’s many charming restaurants — we’ll be happy to recommend our favorites!

    Accommodation: Hotel in Bolzano

  • On day two, you’ll head up to the panoramic walls of Glanig (San Genesio), where a range of recently equipped multi-pitch routes awaits: from well-bolted sport lines to mixed routes with a traditional feel. With options for various skill levels, it’s the perfect setting for a full climbing adventure high above the valley. At the top, a traditional South Tyrolean maso (mountain farmhouse) will be waiting to welcome you with a well-deserved lunch made from local farm products and their own meat, all served with unbeatable views over the Dolomites and the city below.

    Accommodation: Hotel in Bolzano

  • For day three, we suggest heading south to the Sarca Valley for a stunning multi-pitch climb above Lake Toblino or in the legendary Arco di Trento area, a true paradise for sport climbers and multi-pitch enthusiasts alike. Here, both early pioneers and modern alpinists have left their mark, opening classic lines that offer a full Dolomite-style experience just minutes from the shores of Lake Garda. And after a rewarding day on the wall, there’s always time for a well-earned gelato or a cold beer in Arco’s charming old town, surrounded by climbing shops that’ll make your eyes sparkle.

    Accommodation: Hotel in Bolzano

  • Today might be the perfect opportunity to give your feet and toes a well-earned break after days in tight climbing shoes. Instead of cranking on holds, enjoy a lighter day on a via ferrata. We can choose an easier, more hiking-style route that offers big panoramas, or go for a more technical and vertical line if you’re still looking for excitement and not feeling tired. A great chance to have fun on the vertical without overloading your fingers and feet in climbing shoes.

    Accommodation: Hotel in Bolzano

  • Another exciting option we’d love to suggest is tackling a multi-pitch route on the stunning red porphyry cracks around Bolzano, or on the impressive gneiss walls in the Venosta Valley… you'll feel like you're climbing in the States!
Of course, we’re totally flexible: if the weather turns, we can easily head south to the Adige Valley or the Lake Garda area for a great multi-pitch adventure there instead!
