VIA FERRATA & CLIMBING SAFARI
Wild Blue Trek - Selvaggio Blu - Sardinia
SARDINIA - BAUNEI
UP TO 5+ DAYS
FALL & SPRING
A 5-day guided Selvaggio Blu trek along Sardinia’s wild coastline, combining remote hiking, sea views, bivouacs in a tent on and technical sections with via ferrata and incredibile abseiling in caves and to the beaches!
The Selvaggio Blu is considered one of the most spectacular and adventurous coastal treks in Europe. Stretching along the remote limestone cliffs of eastern Sardinia, this five-day journey combines demanding hiking, wild Mediterranean landscapes and technical passages that require rope work, short via ferrata sections and spectacular abseiling.
Far from marked trails and crowds, the route unfolds through hidden coves, panoramic cliffs and ancient shepherd paths suspended above the sea. Nights are spent in tents by the water or in traditional Sardinian shepherd shelters, creating a true expedition atmosphere where simplicity, teamwork and immersion in nature define the experience.
During the day, you hike with a light backpack carrying only the essentials for the stage, while your main duffel bag is transferred to each bivouac area by our local support team. Your personal bag, together with your tent and sleeping mat (both provided by us), will be waiting for you every evening at camp, allowing you to fully enjoy the wilderness without heavy loads.
Evenings are part of the adventure: cooking outdoors, sometimes directly on the beach, lighting a fire and sharing stories under the stars before falling asleep to the sound of the sea.
Along the way, the route passes through (and occasionally camps on) some of the most extraordinary beaches in the Mediterranean, where we are often completely alone! Among them are the world-renowned Cala Goloritzé, Cala Mariolu and Cala Biriala… regularly listed among the most beautiful beaches in the world!
Guided by a certified Mountain Guide, this Wild Blue Trek is designed as a progressive expedition where safety and exploration go hand in hand. It is a true wilderness trekking experience for those who want to discover one of the most untouched and spectacular corners of Sardinia’s coastline.

After hotel check-in, you will meet your Mountain Guide for a program briefing and receive the technical equipment required for the trek (harness, via ferrata set and helmet).

After breakfast, we set off on foot directly from the hotel, beginning our adventure along a coastal trail just a few meters above the sea. The Mediterranean light, the sound of the waves and the first limestone cliffs immediately set the tone for the days ahead.
Soon we reach the impressive sea stack of Pedra Longa, a dramatic vertical pinnacle rising straight from the water. From here we continue on foot toward our first secluded beach, where a refreshing swim in crystal-clear waters marks our true entry into the rhythm of the Selvaggio Blu.
After this relaxing break, the terrain becomes more rugged as we begin the ascent along the spectacular Giradili ledge — an exposed and scenic traverse carved into the limestone cliffs. The climb leads us to Punta Salinas, a stunning panoramic summit with sweeping views stretching as far as the Arbatax peninsula.
Tonight we are hosted in a traditional Sardinian shepherd shelter (ovile), where the shepherd and his family prepare a typical local dinner. It is not only the beginning of a wild trek, but also a deep immersion into the authentic culture of this remote coastline.

After a generous breakfast, we set off early for a truly wild stage. The trail moves up and down through a series of bacu (deep limestone gullies that cut from the plateau down toward the sea). This constant rhythm of ascents and descents gives the day a raw and adventurous character!
One of these gullies requires the use of a fixed rope, installed by your Mountain Guide. It is a short and accessible climbing passage, suitable for everyone, where you can use your hands on the rope for support while remaining safely secured at all times.
Once past this technical section, we descend toward the enchanting cove of Porto Pedrosu, a secluded inlet with crystal-clear water… another perfect opportunity for a refreshing swim!
From there, we continue our march toward Punta Salinas and the spectacular viewpoint overlooking Cala Goloritzé. The view alone is worth the journey!
A short final stretch leads us to our bivouac area, where we set up our tents and prepare for our first full night in the wild. Dinner is cooked outdoors, the fire warms the evening air, and we fall asleep under a sky filled with stars.
Accommodation: tent under the stars

Today we visit two of the most extraordinary beaches in the Mediterranean, celebrated worldwide for their colors and wild character.
After breakfast, we descend in about one hour to Cala Goloritzé for an early morning swim. The beach lies beneath the striking limestone spire of Punta Caroddi, also known as the Aguglia di Goloritzé, a dramatic pinnacle rising straight from the coast and captivating for its shape and luminous rock colors.
Leaving Cala Goloritzé, we climb a short and accessible via ferrata section, always secured and suitable for all participants, which allows us to reach the plateau above. From there we pass the traditional shepherd shelters of Su Tasaru before descending once again toward the sea.
Our next destination is Cala Mariolu, often ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world. A second swim in its turquoise waters becomes the natural reward for the effort of the day.
In the evening we enjoy dinner directly on the beach, listening to the sound of the waves, before moving a few minutes away to our bivouac area for another night in tents under the stars.

Today is the day of our first spectacular abseils. After climbing back up from Cala Mariolu to Punta Mudaloru, we reach a breathtaking viewpoint above the sea before beginning our descent toward the wild cove below.
The route leads us down to Cala Mudaloru, a stunning white pebble beach set inside a dramatic limestone cave. To reach it, we complete our first major abseil of the expedition, descending into a gigantic natural cavern carved into the cliff.
Your Mountain Guide manages the rope system and lowers you safely to the base. All you need to do is trust the process and enjoy the extraordinary sensation of descending through this immense vertical space.
After leaving Cala Mudaloru, where we can enjoy a refreshing swim, we continue toward the next series of abseils. These are shorter and quicker, many of them directly facing the sea, adding rhythm and excitement to the day. Once the final descent is completed, we climb briefly back up to the plateau and reach our bivouac area in the beautiful forest of Bacu Padente.
Once again we prepare dinner outdoors and settle in for the night in this peaceful setting. It is not uncommon to see a few harmless and curious wild pigs wandering nearby, adding a final touch of Sardinian wilderness to the day.
Accommodation: campsite in Bacu Padente

Today we head toward Cala Biriala for a shorter but unforgettable stage of the expedition.
The highlight of the day is a spectacular 50 meter abseil that brings us directly down onto the beach. Descending the limestone wall with the sea beneath your feet is a powerful and symbolic moment that perfectly captures the spirit of the Selvaggio Blu.
Once on the shore, we enjoy a well deserved swim in the crystal clear waters and relax on the white pebbles, surrounded by towering cliffs and absolute silence.
As the sun begins to set, we share one last aperitivo and dinner on the beach, celebrating the last night outdoor of this wild coastal journey in one of the most extraordinary corners of Sardinia!
-
Our final morning begins with breakfast on the beach at Cala Biriala and one last swim in these extraordinary waters. It is a quiet and powerful moment before the final stage of the trek.
We then set off for the last effort of the journey, hiking for approximately three hours toward Cala Sisine. Reaching the beach marks the true completion of the Selvaggio Blu on foot. A final swim and a well deserved lunch await us in the first shepherd shelter we encounter after five days in the wild, where a traditional Sardinian meal prepared by the shepherd offers the perfect closing to the expedition.
The grand finale comes by sea. From Cala Sisine we return to Santa Maria Navarrese by boat, navigating south along the entire Selvaggio Blu coastline. Seeing the cliffs, coves and ledges from the water gives a completely new perspective on the terrain we have just crossed on foot, bringing this wild Mediterranean adventure full circle.
