ROCK CLIMBING SAFARI
Dolomites Iconic Aretes – Guided Multipitch Rock Climbing Safari
DOLOMITES
UP TO 5+ DAYS
MID JUNE - OCTOBER
Guided multipitch rock climbing on the iconic aretes of the Dolomites. An itinerant climbing journey across legendary alpine peaks.
This journey follows some of the most iconic and aesthetic aretes of the Dolomites, linking legendary ridgelines into a true climbing safari across different mountain groups. From the Sella and the Rosengarten to the Pale di San Martino and beyond, the goal is not simply to climb hard, but to move through the landscape along elegant lines that define the history and beauty of Dolomite rock climbing. Sharp edges, airy exposure and unforgettable views accompany each ascent, offering a unique perspective on these mountains.
Rather than staying in one single area, we travel between valleys and choose the best routes according to conditions, creating an itinerant experience shaped by the rhythm of the mountains. Some days may focus on classic spigoli with flowing movement and compact limestone, while others explore more adventurous lines that reward balance, confidence and a sense of exploration. The program reflects the spirit of a Dolomitesafari: a journey in search of the most inspiring routes, where every climb becomes part of a bigger alpine story.
Many of the routes selected for this safari follow elegant ridgelines around the classic Dolomite difficulty of grade V to VI (UIAA), roughly equivalent to mid-5th class climbing in the American system. These climbs are less about extreme difficulty and more about movement, exposure and the unique aesthetic of the spigoli that have made Dolomite climbing legendary.
If you prefer a more flexible hotel-based climbing experience focused on classic multipitch routes across several valleys, you can explore the Dolomites Multipitch Climbing Classics. And for a more immersive hut to hut traverse centered around the towers of the Catinaccio, the King Laurin Traverse offers a deeper alpine journey.

A scenic approach to the Gartl basin, home to Rifugio Re Alberto at the base of the Torri del Vajolet, sets the stage for a climbing adventure on the Spigolo of Torre Delago in the Catinaccio group, perhaps one of the most famous climbs in the Dolomites. First ascended in 1911 by the legendary “devil of the Dolomites,” Tita Piaz, this route combines history and adventure. Your guide will share fascinating stories about this extraordinary and unique alpinist.
One of the most exposed and breathtaking lines in the Dolomites, it is not technically demanding, yet leads all the way to the sharp, true summit of Torre Delago, offering a climb full of character and stunning views.
Private transfer by car to Passo San Pellegrino, with an incredible view of Pale di San Partino Dolomites.

Breakfast and departure for the long-awaited adventure on this aerial ridge with incredibly beautiful rock, a true classic and one of the most stunning climbs in the Dolomites. First ascended in 1920 by Langes and Erwin Merlet, the same climber who opened the Spigolo del Pollice, this route is a perfect blend of history, exposure, and spectacular scenery.
A descent with a few rappels brings us back to the hut, from where we’ll hike down to the car. Then we transfer to the Fiera di Primiero area for the night at our next mountain hut, ready for the next stage of the adventure.

Today we’ll climb another legendary Dolomite classic, the Spigolo Wiessner. The route features ten beautiful pitches around IV grade, with a single more challenging pitch, and offers fantastic rock all the way to the Cima del Sass d’Ortiga, standing proudly and alone among the Pale di San Martino.
After descending back to the car, our adventure among some of the most beautiful ridges in the Dolomites comes to an end! But for the most tireless climbers, there’s no shortage of options: for example, we could transfer to the Tre Cime to climb the legendary Spigolo Dibona on Cima Grande!
